But as a team that's in strong playoff contention, I'd want to add the best player, regardless of age. Pedro's a guy who wins 68% of his career decisions - even if he only wins 60% down the stretch, it would be difficult to imagine a better options for the 5th spot in the rotation (I'm comparing him to #5, since that is the guy who Pedro would bump from the rotation). 60% = 97 wins over a 162 game schedule.If he pitches a few games and has obviously lost his skillset, then cut him and go to another option. Some of the fans would rather see the team give some of their young guns in the minors a chance, as they do have some coveted prospects who are close to major league ready. Others (and probably me included) feel that there is nothing to lose here. The money is right, and Pedro is playoff tested.
