But as a team that&#039;s in strong playoff contention, I&#039;d want to add the best player, regardless of age. Some of the fans would rather see the team give some of their young guns in the minors a chance, as they do have some coveted prospects who are close to major league ready.  Others (and probably me included) feel that there is nothing to lose here.  The money is right, and Pedro is playoff tested.  If it turns out that he is washed up, you can keep him on a short leash and still have the option to turn to the minor league players.
