Well, from a technical perspective, this story is indeed fiction This was one of my better results from WritingBlitz (put my head down and write for 30ish minutes with no interruptions)

How closely does it reflect reality? I’m not sure. Certainly there are some people who are haunted by something like this, while other probably aren’t.

Personally, I definitely would be.

I disagree. I think in this situation most people would feel just as terrible as Barry. Sure, there are lots of scumbags, but I think they are the minority. Not that I’m saying minorities are scumbags, that’s not what I’m saying at all. I’m a minority and hopefully I’m not a scumbag.

Now that that’s settled. The question is, is it fiction? I don’t think so.

I know this is fiction because I believe, in the real world, most guilty parties don’t have the concience Barry portrays. They are only concerned with their own fates. That is why you see these people cry at their sentencings and not prior to it.

My husband and I were involved in an offset head-on crash nine years ago. All we wanted was an apology from the young girl. She refused to give it to us. Because she was a juvenile, she got off with a slap on the hand and community service.

Maybe I’m too cynical, but your Barry is a rarity in this world.

Sobering story. Thanks for cheering up my Friday! (Just ribbing you). The story was well-written, and triggered emotions, which is always the sign of a good story.
