That Wizards story is nuts. More and more, I realize what a different world most of us live in than those guys. I wonder if the NBA did that to them (corrupted by money and fame, etc.), or vice versa (were many of these guys thugs before they even got to the NBA?).

The Holliday deal is being reported as 119-120 million over 7 years.

There's also a team option for 2017 (year 8). This is a vesting option, which is not altogether unusual. What's unusual is the trigger. Holliday needs to finish in the top 10 of the MVP voting in 2016 in order for the option to vest.

In theory, Holliday could win six straight MVP awards between 2010 and 2015, finish 11th in MVP voting in 2016, and not have his option vest. Obviously, that's not going to happen, but the fact remains that a slightly down 2016 on the heels of dominant prior years could cause the option to fail to vest.
