Christine O’Donnell – Witch Of The East?

Don’t all teenage dates end on top of satanic altars? I guess the new darling of the Tea Party and Republican Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell would like everyone to believe that. The comment comes from a past clip of one of her many appearances on the show Politically Incorrect that was brought to light once again by its host Bill Maher on his new show Real Time (see the clip as part of her Greatest Hits on Youtube). The clip has her stating that she once dabbled in witchcraft and one of her first dates ended up on a satanic alter with blood dripping from it. I guess her new campaign slogan should be YES WICCAN!!!

Now while like most things O’Donnell says or has said, the clip is amusing but this one in particular won’t have much of a factor on her losing the Senate race in Delaware. That’s because her tea party crowd just loves them story of redemption. Of how she could overcome her ways of witchcraft and being at the altars of the evil Obama and come to a better life today of living of others campaign contributions.

This is the real thing about the Tea Party’s new love interest. It is truly amazing to me how a crowd so hell-bent on how government should be not allowed to waste their money, yet they have no qualms about letting their political prostitute O’Donnell use their money any way she desires. Yes I called O’Donnell a political prostitute, that is what she is. She does not have a job and lives off money given to her for running for political office. So I hope the tea party loves their position as the political Johns right now.

This past Sunday O’Donnell was to appear on a couple of the Sunday news shows, but quickly cancelled those appearances after Maher released his clip adn promise that he hd many more to release. Granted she said that she was overworked and needed to relax and get away for the weekend. We have to believe her right? After all, she did once say that she would not have even lied to Hitler to save Anne Frank. Unfortunately teabaggers she isn’t that honest either. She lies as much as Sister Sarah, just she is not as crafty about it. She quickly went into redirections of her motive throughout the weekend ending up with she overbooked events and Delaware events and voters should be the focus. Good for her, if that was the actual motive, but it was not as Delaware voters are her main concern.

I think the last stat I saw on the issue was that over 80% of O’Donnell’s contributions this cycle were from outside of Delaware. So if Delaware needs to be the focus maybe she should return some of that money she was so adamantly trying to get at just last week. On Hannity last night O’Donnell professed she will do no more national interviews because Delaware needed to be the focus. However while it would be the good reason, it is not her real reason, she just doesn’t want to have any more missteps on her way to losing the Senate race than she will have anyways from her own past comments.

I say on her way to losing the race because that IS going to be the endgame of this race in my opinion. A seat that was once thought to go to the dark side is now a pretty safe seat to hold. Even polls so right biased seem to think so. The Fox News battleground poll had the Democrat Chris Coons up 54% to 39% over O’Donnell. On an amusing note though in the same polling if Mike Castle would be the nominee he would be trouncing Coons 48% to 33%. Now since I usually don’t believe anything that comes from Faux News alone, another usually right biased poll Rasmussen has Coons up 53% to 42%. So way to stick it to the establishment teabaggers, by making an obvious pickup into a safe seat for the opposition instead.

Now the only poll that matters is the one on election day, but the result will be no different than the pst two times she has run before, especially now that everyone is vividly aware o how much of a nut she is. So I sit here waiting with bated breath at the next piece news to come out from O’Donnell whether a current misstep or a past one. The are all amusing to me. Until that time though I will protect myself from the invasion of mice-human hybrids and continue to be master of my own domain.

Squirrel, that is an interesting string of comments. I don’t really care about what happens in a Deleware election since I don’t live there, but it is interesting what is suddenly important. It is now bad to have lived off of government grant money, that was a badge of honor when the president was running for office. What she did as a teenager is now important, but people are labled unpatriotic or racist if they asked questions about the president’s life before the age of 25. Money coming from outside the jusidiction is now a bad thing, but only in Deleware and only for O’Donnell (check the donation listings, Coons also has a lot of money from Washington D.C. and New York).

You also seem to be painting the “Tea Party” with all of the flaws of O’Donnell (oh yeah I think she is flawed and would not vote for her if I lived in Deleware). I do not belong to a tea party, but the people I know who are take the most pride in not having an organization. Each group does what they think is best for their area with an emphisis on reduced taxes and spending.

With what I have seen on all of the news outlets, there seems to be fear that O’Donnell may actually win. She was down by about the same amount in the polls before she won the primary. I have not considered the polls very much since the only poll that matters is on election day. They predicted a double digit loss by Bush against Kerry on the night before the election – so much for polls.

Yeah, I care about what happens in Delaware for the Senate solely because it does affect things outside if Delaware as well (Republicans have already stated their desire in public to shut down the government if they regain control of Congress), and the fact that I am a political junkie.

Government grant money? No O’Donnell lives o the money given to her for her campaign, now if that is what you term government grant money then fine.

What she did as a teenager is not important to me either. I even stated as much that it is quite amusing as to be something that continues to shed light on her, but really will have no play in her losing the election. As for being called a racist for talking about the current President’s life before age 25 (why age 25, isn’t the at the time o birth you are most obsessed about?) than it depends on what else is being said in the context of the inquiry about his life as to whether that charge is a dignified one or not.

Please, of course I know Coons has National money, I never said he didn’t, I never stated that O’Donnell shouldn’t. What I said if she all the sudden wants to shy back from the spotlight she wanted to get into because some “tough” questions are coming her way and using that the only people that matter are the people of Delaware, then she might want to part with that over 80% of her money that comes from out of state.

Please show me where I paint the tea party with the laws of O’Donnell here? I state how hypocritical they are to now love a woman who uses their money for whatever use she desires, but want government to spend no money at all (unless Republicans are in charge of course). People who solely believe in reduced taxes an spending are an non-vocal minority of the Tea Party movement. The nutcases are the majority of the movement and the most vocal. I’m waiting any day now for an O’Donnell rally to have a signs in it with a picture of the President and the header “Spank this Monkey Instead”

Now while initially O’Donnell was down to Castle in polling by about this amount in the Primary, as one facing a political name in a state would be. However she was up over Castle before the election an won by more than that. The only poll that matters IS the one on election day, I just said that above in my column this week. Polling is more of a matter of the sample you have in it and how it relates to the actual electorate voting. I never thought Kerry was going to win in 2004, and the historical look at that polling data used in that one is very laughable to the actual electorate at that time.

On the other hand O’Donnell is gonna lose. She has the far right solely locked up, but has almost no appeal to moderates or actual independent voters. While that equals a nice win in a primary that means defeat in a general election. However she will have lots of money to continue to pay her expenses until the next election cycle.

I’d personally lean toward giving O’Donnell a pass on the Wicca/Satanic stuff, because the comments are quite old, and refer back to her high school days. One group whose votes she likely will NOT get are Wiccans, who are a tad bit annoyed at the negative and completely inaccurate depiction of Wicca.

@ Martin – The financial allegations are they she took money straight out of her campaign fund and use it for personal expenses – not that she was employed by an organization that relied on grants or something like that. If true, that would be a major problem. The claims seem to be strengthened a bit by the fact that she seems to have negligible personal income.

yea know I merely find the witch comments more amusing than anything else. I am waiting for what clip comes out on Friday’s Real Time though as Maher tweeted last night to the extent that for one day he did not have someone ask him about O’Donnell, but that will surely change after the show on Friday.

Bill Maher is nothing more than yet another angry Liberal out to knock down any Conservative. So what if she dabbled in witchcraft in high school. I rarely went to Church in college (gasp). Everyone needs to find their own way. I’m pretty positive I can say that you did something you’re not proud of when you were younger.

She’s living off her campaign contributions? Really. Pot, meet kettle. Obama has never worked in the private sector. How’s that for living off of the Government money?

Look at your hand when you point a finger. You’ve got three pointing back at you.

I really have a problem with work this month…it’s getting in the way of my blogging. I’m sorry I didn’t read this earlier today and get in on the fun!

Let me start by saying that you’re all wrong, this is actually George W Bush’s fault. Damn him for causing all this.

All of the witch comments amuse me as well. Am I a wiccan…ummmm no. I’m an ultra conservative wing nut, remember? That would make me either Catholic, Lutheran or some other religion close to one of them. Like Crunchy, I was bad about attending church in college and equally as bad when I was on shift work and it ran into Sunday mornings.

Fortunatrley, I’m back on the path attending church and when it comes to liberals I have a fat sack and I’m ready to tea bag at will. Naughty boy!!!

Let’s remember that Obama did cocaine in COLLEGE and that was brushed under the table. This little hotty in Delaware took a liking to an Ouija board in High School. I don’t like either one of those activities and if one of my daughters took part in either I’d lose faith in them and be extremely disappointed.

As far as the Conservative nation liking O’Donnell, the thing that appeals to us is not all of her actions in the past or how she earns her money today. For myself, it’s that she is conservative, she agrees with many of my ideals, she is not a typical DC retread that will be wheeling and dealing from her first day in office. I think a lot of it is that she just MAY be an honest politician at least for a while (I know that is an oxymoron). She represents many of my views and stands firm and tall against what I consider reckless spending followed by increased taxes.

Probably the same things that irritate the hell out of you with O’DOnnell irritate the hell out of me with Obama. He’s so liberal I throw up thinking about it. O’Donnell is so conservative that she probably makes you throw up even if just a little.

If I went back to High School and College and had to confess all of my transgressions, I would be eternally embarrassed. I am blessed that today I have faith in Jesus and know I’m forgiven. I also feel pretty damn happy that I didn’t ever explore Wicannism??? (I know I butchered that)

I don’t care about Delaware either. I do agree that conservatives could use another person in the ranks to help balance things out though. There is no way we’re going to be rid of Unions the new and improved Health Care system if we don’t gain a few members.

While I have your attention, I’m a little short on beer money this week. I was thinking I could run for an office and use a few bucks to pick up a growler at Rock Bottom on the way home. Squirrel, care to donate to the cause? I hav PayPal, does that make it easier?

Have a great one peeps. BTW Kos, breast or bottle? LOL!!!

once again the witchcraft comments were mere amusment and not meant to be the focal point of the column, just the catchy title, which is actually kosmo’s doing, my original thought for title was yes wiccan!!!

honestly, O’Donnell merely makes me laugh as opposed to throwing up. actually i was needing some extra help with my bills squeaky and was thinking i should run for office myself so sorry i can’t help you with that beer money.

@squirrel – yes wiccan as in yes we can? Love it!
Ok. I’ll be your campaign manager then both of our budgets are better off. Sound good?

  11. kosmo
    Sep 23, 2010 @ 18:00:14

I completely missed “yes wiccan” meaning “yes, we can.” I re-titled it mostly for search engines – so that O’Donnell’s name would be in the title.

Personally, I see a big difference in a person not having been employed in the private sector (see John Glenn and the Gold Star Mothers speech) and dipping into campaign funds to buy groceries – as does the IRS. Innocent until proven guilty, though.

I’ll add your Twitter page to the info that appears at the bottom of your articles.

    Sep 24, 2010 @ 08:40:45

Kosmo, you are right, if she took the campaign money, then there is a problem. She should have set up an independent donation fund like the Clintons and paid herself (remember the legal defense fund? Bill paid himself for legal representation. The problem there was he had been disbared in Arkansas, the only state he had ever been alowed to practice law).

Squire, you are right too, I shouldn’t have focused on the witch stuff. Who running for office hasn’t dabled in satanic rituals? By the way, can I get in on the campaign as well. I could work on speaches and order the pizza! If we just eat at the headquarters every day (and live there too), it would not be against the rules.

Also, the 25 year old comment was random. I was refering to the hystaria that MSMBC has any time someone questions the president’s actions before he was a paid activist. And squire, I am not a social conservative. Although I do not like abortion (and would not recommend it to anyone), I feel that is a question for states, churchs and individuals. The idea of age 0 is interesting, I had never seen that before, but like it.

I like where this is going. Martin is the pizza Guy, I’ll be the beer Guy. Squirrel will be theinstigstor picking on everyone which leads to more beer and pizza. Kos, you’re the middle of the road Guy and will be the peace keeper.

Squirrelwill have to be the candidate b/com way too conservative and would yell at people acting stupid. Martin, like it or not you may be too conservative to win. Kos your wife is a CPA which is close to lawyer. The last president that had a wife that was an attorney ended poorly. That leaves squirrel. Squirrel the current mood of the US is liberal——you are probably too liberal but you may stand the best chance if winning (and getting donations) which is the point of all this.

What position do you want? Where? Hopefully Colorado!

Later. Gotta pick up the kids.

is that what you would have suggested she do..?

  17. Martin Kelly
    Sep 25, 2010 @ 00:13:48

Onij, no, I do not want any of our elected officials finding financial loop holes to get cash out of the system. I was just mocking the outrage presented by a lot of reporters (not the Squirrel, he is just pointing out the craziness and he is not a reporter).

To go back to Kosmo’s original comment, if she did dip into her election fund for personal spending, then there should be some sort of punishment. From past history, I do not think that punishment will be forthcoming. If it is from the left or the old establishment republicans, it will be considered political. The only way to truly deter this type of behavior is to beat the cheaters at the poles.
